INDIGO, which is expected to go live in 2019, will connect with Superloop’s fibre networks in Singapore, Perth and Sydney, offering PoP to PoP connectivity between over 40 data centres across the three markets.
The INDIGO cable system will connect Sydney, Perth, Jakarta and Singapore with 36Tbps launch capabilities. Superloop’s upcoming INDIGO capacity will be available in over 18 data centres in Singapore, four data centres in Perth and over 20 data centres in Sydney.
Accessible facilities include Digital Realty, Equinix, NEXTDC, Global Switch, Telstra Global, Fujitsu, NTT, iO, 1-Net, STT/Tata, Rack Central as well as both the Australian and Singapore Stock Exchanges, Superloop added.
Bevan Slattery, CEO of the Superloop Group said: “I’m incredibly excited to see our INDIGO investment leveraging the advantage of our pan-Asian metro fibre networks in Australia and Singapore while helping major enterprises and cloud providers interconnect between some of the major data centre locations and operators in our region.”
In November, Superloop subsidiary SubPartners completed the horizontal directional drilling phase of its seaward facing bore pipe project at Coogee beach in Sydney, which will facilitate the landing of two subsea cables, including INDIGO.
Superloop joined the INDIGO consortium after it acquired all issued shares for SubPartners in a $2.5 million deal announced in April. Other members of the consortium include AARNet, Google, Indosat Ooredoo, Singtel, and Telstra.
“The progress of the INDIGO project to date has been terrific, and with some improvements in the program we are now expecting construction to be ahead of schedule. 2018 is going to be a very big year,” Slattery added.
