Newark’s 165 Halsey Street announces AWS Direct Connect availability

The Newark, New Jersey, carrier hotel at 165 Halsey Street has become one of the newest locations for AWS Direct Connect in the north-east US.

The facility, a dedicated 1.2 million square foot data centre/colocation/telecom carrier hotel that is 13 miles from Manhattan, will support the US East (Northern Virginia) Amazon Web Services (AWS) Region.

“As more enterprises seek to maintain the security and control of on-premises infrastructure and deploy hybrid clouds through direct interconnection, we are excited to meet this industry demand and provide our customers access to AWS Direct Connect,” said Joseph Simone, president at Tishman Real Estate Services for 165 Halsey Street.

“With the introduction of AWS Direct Connect, our customers can immediately benefit from dedicated, high performance, private access to their AWS applications and workloads across the globe.”

Using AWS Direct Connect, customers can establish private connectivity between AWS and their data centre, office or colocation environment which in many cases can reduce network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections.

In addition to serving as an AWS Direct Connect location, 165 Halsey Street offers colocation at its 250,000 square foot facility.
