Seaborn’s Seabras-1 provides dedicated international capacity while avoiding the issues that often comes with shared traffic for international IP in Brazil.

Seaborn’s Seabras-1 system is a lower-latency submarine fiber optic route that offers the only direct path between New York and São Paulo. The 72Tbs Seabras-1 submarine cable system was launched in September 2017 and will provide Eletronet with a global footprint of dedicated high-speed IP services and burst capabilities, with direct interconnects to all major content delivery networks, content providers and cloud networks, as well as all Tier 1 networks globally.

To date Electronet has 155 points of presence and 16,000km of fibre capacity, delivering wavelength and Ethernet services to internet service providers throughout Brazil. As a result of its partnership with Seaborn and using its Seabras-1 DIA, Eletronet is now able to offer IP transit services globally to its customers on a newer, more reliable and faster route than ever before.
Last month, Electronet struck a similar deal with Telia Carrier to use its global fibre backbone to provide dedicated internet access to its Brazilian customers. Commenting at the time, Edison De Leon, regional director of Latin America and the Caribbean for Telia Carrier, said that “by choosing Telia Carrier as a partner in launching a Tier-1 Internet service, Eletronet can offer a new internet option to the Brazilian market.”
