The partnership, which was first announced in November, sees Dimension Data transfer its cloud IaaS capability to NTT Com under the “NTT Cloud” brand whilst retaining existing strategic partnerships.
NTT Com said the two firms have now completed the transfer of Dimension Data’s cloud IaaS capability to its own platform.
The aim, according to NTT Com, is to bring together both companies respective cloud offerings in order to “drive innovation into the market” and deliver services that enterprises demand.
NTT Communications senior executive vice president, Katsumi Nakata "We have completed transferring Dimension Data's cloud IaaS capability to NTT Com strengthening our cloud development and support capabilities, thanks to both companies' efforts driven by relevant members since the announcement last November. We will continue to strengthen Hybrid IT solutions and contribute to digital transformation journey of our clients."
Spend on cloud infrastructure services jumped 46% to over $13 billion in the final quarter of 2017 when compared to the previous year, according to figures from Synergy Research Group.
Synergy attributed the increased growth rate, which was bigger than any of the previous three quarters, partly to the aggressive growth of the leading cloud providers, all of whom posted strong quarterly results.
The partnership means cloud services are available in 15 countries or regions and across 35 data centres. It adds Dimension Data’s private cloud and dedicated SAP platforms to NTT Com’s offering.
It also gives Dimension Data customers access to NTT Com’s software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN), global data centre portfolio and DDoS protection services, whilst enabling a more flexible range of hybrid cloud environments.
Dimension Data Group CEO Jason Goodall said "Many of our clients have complex hybrid IT challenges and need services that are end-to-end and scale as per their specific requirements. It is clear that we can better serve our clients and offer them solutions that address their evolving challenges by combining our strengths. We are now equipped to deliver a more compelling value proposition and greater level of innovation in hybrid IT to the market and our clients."
The partnership means both company’s clients will have access to a cloud management platform that provides a ‘single pane of glass' dashboard to manage the NTT Com cloud platforms as well as third party clouds, on-premises private clouds, colocation environment and network services.
451 Research founder and research vice president, William Fellows, said: "By bringing together cloud capabilities of NTT Com and Dimension Data, the existing clients of NTT Com and Dimension Data as well as new clients of NTT Group will have access to a comprehensive range of cloud services which will be continuously enhanced to meet clients' demand. NTT Group has in practice created a cloud factory to support customers' digital transformation."
