In addition to Orenburg Tele2 offers high-speed 4G services in 54 residential areas including Orsk, Novotroitsk, Buzuluk, Buguruslan, Sorochinnsk, Sol-Yeletsk, Mednogorsk, Kuvandyk, Abdulino and Yasnyy to name a few.
The network in Orenburg operates in the 800MHz frequency band and covers the territory where 77% of the population lives.
One of the key benefits of the network is its wide coverage and penetrating capacity, which provides a high level of signal not only in the city streets but also indoors. In order to meet this deliver this level of service Tele2 has had to build new base stations and replace equipment at operating facilities using modern Ericsson equipment throughout the network.
Tele2 already delivers high-speed wireless internet in 61 Russian regions, with its 4G services already available to Tele2 subscribers in 56 constituent territories of the Russian Federation, which are: Moscow and Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, in Arkhangelsk, Belgorod, Bryansk, Chelyabinsk, Irkutsk, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Kemerovo, Kirov, Kostroma, Kursk, Lipetsk, Murmansk, Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Omsk, Orel, Orenburg, Penza, Pskov, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Smolensk, Sverdlovsk, Tambov, Tomsk, Tula, Tver, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Vladimir, Volgograd, Vologda and Voronezh regions, the Chuvash and Udmurtia republics, republics of Buryatia, Karelia, Khakasia, Komi, Mariy El, Mordovia and Tatarstan, the Altay Territory, the Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk territories, the Republic of Adygea, the Perm Territory, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area.
At the start of the year Tele2 agreed to buy Swedish cable operator Com Hem for a reported $3.3 billion. Tele2 claims that the deal will generate SKr900 million ($110 million) in synergies over the next five years, with Com Hem boss Anders Nilsson to lead the combined unit as CEO.
