The new 340,000 sqft facility will sit on approximately 7.3 acres at 400 Paul Avenue in the Bay area and the two storey building will offer a secure and scalable data centre with 24MW of power capacity.
“The project will offer a flexible design to serve either a single tenant or multiple users,” said J Todd Raymond, CEO of 1547.
The first phase of construction includes the renovation of two existing 1930s-era buildings that total 54,225 sqft that is being modernised to provide creative office and support space for its data centre tenants. Site work for the campus is due to begin imminently, including an 187,000 sqft purpose-built data centre.
The location of the new campus has chosen because it sits just outside of San Francisco’s central business district, making is perfectly located to benefit from a hub of more than 15 fibre networks served by multiple international carriers and it neighbours one of the biggest interconnection data centres in the US.
400 Paul will form part of CIM Group’s portfolio of infrastructure investments which to date includes: renewable energy, urban parking facilities, water supply infrastructure and waste solutions. In collaboration with 1547, CIM owns and operates other datacentres in Toronto, Ontario, and Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The two parties only announced its Wyoming acquisition earlier this month. The deal sees the two acquiring 340 Progress Circle, a 42,000-square-foot build-to-suit single-tenant data centre, adding to CIM portfolio of investments. The facility currently delivers 2 MW of critical IT load capacity that will soon be expanded to 3 MW over the next four months to meet the demand for disaster recovery, cloud, colocation and related managed IT services.
