In autumn 2017 the Telekom Austria Group announced its decision to roll out A1 – its successful brand in the Austrian market – across all the Group's operations. This move is the latest step in pursuit of the Group's one brand strategy and will be implemented gradually and depending on local circumstances. The rebranding decision was based on an extensive analysis of the market environment and the branding landscape that identified the distinct potential and strengths of A1 as a powerful international brand covering all aspects of convergence, ICT and Wholesale - mobile, voice, satellite, data, roaming and cloud solutions as well as OTT services. The legal entity Telekom Austria AG is not affected by the rebranding as the A1 Telekom Austria Group and remains unchanged.
The Group's one brand strategy is a convincing example of how synergy effects can be facilitated and existing assets and capabilities can be optimally leveraged across the Group - while exploring the emerging potential and opportunities of digitalisation. Talking about the activities to implement the Group’s brand strategy and establish a catchy, unified brand image, Alejandro Plater, CEO and COO of the A1 Telekom Austria Group, said: "We are accelerating our exertions to implement a powerful unified market presence for all our operations and to improve our international visibility. This will support the efficiency and growth targets of the A1 Telekom Austria Group and its subsidiary companies by enabling them to act even more effectively as 'One Company'". “Following the rebranding as the A1 Telekom Austria Group, the former international carrier Telekom Austria Group Wholesale will appear in the new design as A1 Wholesale, quasi the old team with a new brand.”, said Franz Bader, Director Wholesale.
