The Portland EDC is home to a robust internet ecosystem that provides connectivity to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Direct Connect, as well as cloud onramps to other major cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud.
“Tata Communications empowers companies to grow their businesses globally while expanding its reach to the edge, ensuring a secure and improved connectivity experience for their customers and employees,” said Gaurav Anand, vice president of alliances and strategic partnerships at Tata Communications. “We view EdgeConneX as a leader in this space and we are excited to move forward with them, designating their Edge Data Centers as our primary choice for IP transit deployment at the edge.”
In addition the Portland facility also provides a cloud ecosystem that gives EdgeConneX customers with services for digital infrastructure monitoring and performance measurement, and managed services solutions.
As for the interconnection to Tata’s IP transit service, the product was designed to support customers wanting to scale internationally and connect global workforces. Their global network also includes one of the largest submarine cable networks and a Tier 1 IP network that has connectivity to more than 240 countries over 400 PoPs.
“The deployment of an interconnection PoP for Tata Communications’ IP transit service in the Portland EDC provides customers with enhanced connectivity options locally, regionally and internationally,” added Brian Bellis, vice president of global network and ecosystem development at EdgeConneX. “By connecting directly, customers gain greater control of their networks through seamless connections and enhanced visibility, resulting in optimal network performance.”
The first deployment of Tata’s IP transit service in the Portland EDC has been completed, additional deployments have been planned across other EdgeConneX EDCs in the future.
Earlier this month EdgeConneX named another partnership with Colt, joining Colt’s IQ Network to several EdgeConneX facilities, offering connectivity closer to the edge. Under the terms of the collaboration Colt’s high-bandwidth IQ network will be linked to EdgeConneX facilities, beginning with its Amsterdam Edge Data Center, which was its first EDC in Europe.
