Hi3G, which operates as 3 in Denmark, is undertaking the update as part of its IP Mobile Backhaul Transformation project that aims to rollout Router 6000 hardware, software and customer support. Once completed the upgrade will lay the groundwork for future 5G requirements as well as support the increasing number of connected devices on the network.

Work is due to begin in autumn of 2018 and builds upon Ericsson’s existing partnership with Hi3G. Back in 2017, Hi3G partnered with Ericsson to upgrade parts of its radio and transmission network, expand its 4G coverage and launch 5G technology. The company already has a long experience with Ericsson’s MINI-LINK product portfolio that has a common management system with Router 6000 series making the integration and deployment of the Router 6000 simpler and more efficient.

The Router 6000 responds to the needs of operators and the growing data traffic volumes as well as the significant increase in the number of connected devices, delivering not only scalability, but also added security and higher operational efficiency.
According to Ericsson’s 5G Business Potential report, operators can add additional revenue of $204-619 billion (12-35%) to their existing forecast service revenues of $1.7 trillion in 2026 by focussing on the digital transformation of other industries like automotive and manufacturing using 5G-IoT technology.
