The decision to build out its network was driven by demand from hyperscale, cloud and data centre providers as well as enterprise customers. Once completed the expansions will deliver fast, high-capacity fibre to key technology and commerce locations.
“These success-based network expansions will drive greater value for existing and new customers in Europe, with a focus on carriers and wireless operators, cloud service providers, technology, financial services and data-driven enterprises,” said Annette Murphy, managing director of Zayo Europe. “We continue to focus on leveraging our robust network, meeting the
demand for the highest capacity, lowest latency fibre routes between key customer locations.”
In London, Zayo will build a new fibre route from Hatfield, Hertfordshire to Stratford, East London making up a fibre ring outside the city. As well as supporting both current and future customers, the new route will also create a new option for long-haul routes from Dublin to Amsterdam and data centre customers on Enfield.
The expansion in Paris will focus on building out assets in La Defense, a large business district west of the city. The new network extension will expand Zayo’s reach to major office buildings in the district.
As for Dublin, an unknown multinational company has chosen Zayo to build a fully diverse dark fibre ring around the metro area. The project will feature a high-fibre count solution that will significantly improve latency for the customer. The new route will also complement Zayo’s existing T50 fibre network in Dublin.
In Amsterdam, Zayo will upgrade and expand its existing fibre network between Schiphol-Rijk and the Amsterdam Science Park. The decision to upgrade it is driven by a data centre operator based in the Schiphol-Rijk data centre campus.
All of these metro networks will connect with Zayo’s extensive pan-European and global fibre network, thousands of buildings and data centres, including Zayo’s nine data centres located throughout Western Europe.
