As well as serving as president of InterGlobix, a datacentre, terrestrial and subsea fibre convergence company, he also sits on the boards of committees such as Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), LINX NoVA and Open-IX.
With over twenty years experience, Vinay is recognised as a veteran in the data centre and connectivity space.
It is during his panel session at Subsea Americas 2018 that he demonstrates these skills, seamlessly navigating a panel of data centre heavy weights discussing the biggest trends in the sector.
In terms of demand, Nagpal says that customers are looking for a seamless handoff between multiple networks; between different types of networks as well as flexible contractual terms on connect fees which is a big concern of theirs.
As of December 2018, InterGlobix, under Nagpal’s leadership, is part of SubOptic, the ICPC, NVTC as well as LINXNova, Nanog, OpenIX and PTC.
Belonging to such industry bodies provides a level of comfort level for InterGlobix clients facilitating best practices and enabling the company to pass on such benefits onto its customers.
Like most other players in the global infrastructure space, Nagpal also notices an influx of data coming from Asia, India in particular.
“If you look at the opportunity in India with the new terrestrial fibre infrastructure put in place, you almost you hear about new data centres entering the market on a daily basis. But it is a tough market to break into,” he says.
Looking ahead its all about convergence as far as Nagpal is concerned. “We are going to see increasing convergence over the next few years across subsea, fibre and data centre,” says Nagpal. “Throughout 2019, our focus at InterGlobix is to help our customers capitalise on this convergence.”
