The Blue NAP Americas data centre will become the second AMS-IX point of presence (POP) in the Caribbean region next to the E-Commerce Park (ECP) data centre, where AMS-IX Caribbean has been present since 2008.
“I am delighted to see that the Blue NAP Americas data centre is becoming our second POP in Curaçao. Our presence in both BNA and ECP data centres not only adds resiliency to our network set-up but it also creates diversity on the level of submarine cable connectivity, as submarine cables like the Pacific Caribbean Cable System (PCCS) are now also accessible,” said Nico Scheper, director of AMS-IX Caribbean.
“Furthermore, I would like to emphasise the importance of Curaçao as a connectivity hub and the connectivity opportunities it offers, not only for Curaçao, but for the whole region due to the presence of a large amount of submarine cables connecting us with the rest of the Latam region.”
Ton van den Berg, general manager of Blue NAP Americas, added: “The deployment of the AMS-IX Caribbean PoP in our Tier-IV data centre in strengthens Blue NAP Americas services towards our customers. With AMS-IX Caribbean, we do not only provide a secure and reliable data centre facility, we can now also offer internet exchange services for the whole Latam region.”
The news comes a month after AMS-IX announced that its Amsterdam internet exchange broke through the 6Tbps traffic barrier peaking at 6.3Tbps.
