Nokia will deploy its systems in Ooredoo's datacenters, marking another step towards the roll out of 5G services in Qatar's capital city of Doha.
Nokia’s cloud-based architecture combined with Ooredoo’s core network will make it more scalable and suitable for extreme mobile broadband and machine communication services.
One of the most anticipated innovations Ooredoo is involved in is the worlds-first self-driving 5G connected aerial taxi (featured in the video below) — a large drone-like vehicle big enough to transport two people to a destination up to 20 minutes away with a 130 Km/h speed.
Nokia AirFrame, CloudBand, voice and Cloud Packet Core VNFs, and Nuage Networks Software Defined Network (SDN) are being deployed in Ooredoo’s core network.
Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, COO, Ooredoo Qatar, commented: "The modernization of our core network will enhance our capabilities to innovate with new services.

Ooredoo recently partnered with Colt to announce the launch of Ooredoo’s Cloud Connect service, which enables business customers to scale innovation with global cloud providers.
