In addition, DE-CIX’s interconnection services are now available in Barcelona, Alicante, Sevilla, Granada, Malaga to name a few, adding up to more than 470 cities worldwide with access to DE-CIX.

Aire Networks’ footprint spans 27,000km and is one of the largest in Spain, reaching such cities as Seville, Murcia or Elche. By interconnecting through DE-CIX Madrid, these regions not only will connect with the networks peering at the city, but also the whole networks ecosystem in DE-CIX Internet Exchanges worldwide, from Frankfurt to New York.

Through the new alliance Aire Networks increases the number of cities customers can access DE-CIX services to over 470 around the globe. In total, DE-CIX operates Internet Exchanges in 18 metropolitan regions around the globe. The location in Frankfurt is home to the world's leading Internet Exchange with a data throughput of more than 6.8Tbps at peak times.
Earlier this month, DE-CIX expanded its presence in its Frankfurt location by entering –into a cooperation with the data centre operator maincubes.
“Through the cooperation with maincubes, we are able to strengthen our position as the largest Internet Exchange in the world, and offer our customers even greater redundancy. Our aim is not only to expand within Frankfurt, but to spread out nationwide in Germany, and in this way to be as close as possible to our users,” said Thomas King, chief technology officer at DE-CIX.
Through the deal, maincubes makes its data centre infrastructure available to DE-CIX, which operates its own network infrastructure there, as well as undertaking the management and the marketing.
