MDC’s edge data centres are strategically located at network crossing points between Mexico and the US where they connect the largest concentration of Mexican networks.
“The West and Southwest US continue to be a focal point for business and population growth as evidenced by our tremendous success and strong traction at our Mexico border crossing facilities,” said Joe Scattareggia (pictured), executive vice president for Windstream Wholesale. “Windstream Wholesale will continue to build on this success by meeting the needs of our customers for access to strategic markets in the US as well as Mexico and Latin America.”
Via the new presence, Windstream Wholesale will offer 10Gbps and 100Gbps wavelength service at El Paso, delivering another diverse connectivity option into Mexico. The El Paso facility is quickly becoming the fastest growing data centre in southwest Texas and gateway to Mexico.
With existing PoPs in Laredo and McAllen, Texas, the added presence in El Paso brings connectivity at all major Mexican border crossings cities and aligns with its strategy for helping international companies connect to the USA.
Ciena’s 5170 service aggregation platform was chosen by Ciena to support both applications, offering optimal density and extensive range.
The new PoP marked Sparkle’s fourth in Texas, adding to existing PoPs in McAllen, Dallas, and Laredo. Sparkle said it will boost the company’s reach on the US-Mexico border.
