To the role Hartono brings vast amounts of industry knowledge and expertise that will help operators lay the groundwork for networks that can adapt and scale to manage the unpredictable capacity requirements and application demands.
“Networks in Indonesia are becoming increasingly dynamic driven by the need to improve end user experiences and the desire to support high-bandwidth services like video streaming, online gaming and other mobile internet applications,” said Dion Leung, regional managing director of Asia, Ciena. “As Indonesia prepares for 5G applications and inter-island, inter-country data centre interconnections, we are expanding our leadership team in Asia to help our customers transform their networks and turn challenges into new business opportunities.”
Prior to joining Ciena, Hartono worked for Nokia as sales director and customer team head, additionally he also held several sales positions at Juniper Networks including sales director service provider.
Hartono also holds an MBA from Institut Pengembangan Manajemen Indonesia and with decades of experience in the telecoms industry, he will manage Ciena’s overall sales, business development and channel development strategies in Indonesia.
Ciena currently serves more than 1,500 customers worldwide and operates in more than ten countries in Asia. Ciena serves a number of leading operators in the region, including KDDI, Rakuten, SK Telecom and Telstra.
Based out of Ciena’s recently expanded Gurgaon campus, Nambiar provides executive leadership for local customers and partners, giving Ciena a voice within government and industry associations and leading Ciena India’s growing employee base.
