Located at Medallion, the largest carrier-neutral centre in Nigeria and owned by Baxtel, the Lagos PoP is fully interconnected with Sparkle’s Tier-1 IP transit service, Seabone. As such customer have access to local and international OTT’s, ISPs, content and application providers to support the uptake of social media, e-ecommerce, online music, games and videos in the country.
“With this new opening, Sparkle ends the year with more than 160 globally-distributed PoPs, eighteen of which launched only in 2019: a confirmation of the fast pace that Sparkle has given to its relaunch journey,” said Mario Di Mauro (pictured), CEO of Sparkle.
Additionally, through Seabone customers have access to Sparkle’s DDoS service, which protects users from attacks, also using its the Virtual NAP solution customers also have access to the main Internet Exchange Points without the need to build any proprietary infrastructure.
This latest PoP in Nigeria joins Sparkle’s the existing points of presence in Egypt, Tunisia, Tanzania and Djibouti in the region. Outside of that the company also has PoPs in Armenia, Milan, Chile, Jordan and Bogotá to name a few.
