At the time of discovering the attack, the company release a statement saying that it was the victim of a cyber-attack “hat many institutions and even states in the world may be exposed to, and this time the attacks are made for Türk Telekom's DNS.”
Once service was re-established on Monday 20 January it released a follow up statement saying that it has resolved the problem which was cause by a “foreign operator” and that both domestic and international internet traffic had returned to normal. It added that its teams were “working hard to minimise users’ disruption”.
The company did not disclose who was behind the attacks.
