The news comes as part of Liberty Global’s pledge to use its next-gen gigabit speed broadband networks to provide its customers with their favourite streaming content alongside leading broadcast and on-demand programming in a seamless and flexible manner.
“We are excited to extend our partnership with Netflix and continue to provide the best of all worlds in content on a single, intuitive platform,” said Enrique Rodriguez (pictured), CTO, Liberty Global. “Our customers are savvy. And with one voice control command, they can continue to directly access the programming they want on networks that deliver reliable, uninterrupted viewing. Netflix is a global leader in streaming content, and that’s precisely a partner we want for our customers.”
Liberty Global was the first launch Netflix within its Virgin Media TV and Broadband offering seven years ago. This has proven to be successful with close to half of its V6 video subscribers regularly accessing Netflix content on their TV sets. Netflix is also available on Liberty’s Horizon platform, in almost every country where Liberty Global operates. On close of this extended collaboration, Liberty Global will continue to enhance the functionality and overall integration of Netflix within its offering, beginning again with its UK operation.
Earlier this year, Liberty Global entered into a strategic partnership with Infosys to ensure business continuity as the business transfers 300 roles across operations management and service delivery. Under the terms of the agreement, Infosys will focus on managing IT and infrastructure platforms under the TSAs.
