Wireless telecoms provider Vilicom has partnered with cloud-native software firm Mavenir, promising to “transform mobile network economics” through the roll out of Connectivity-as-a-Service (CaaS).
The partnership leveraged Mavenir’s vRAN platform to host multiple networks using the same IT infrastructure, allowing Vilicom to streamline operations and reduce the cost of inbuilding 4G and 5G connectivity for new customers.
“Mavenir is delighted to partner with Vilicom who shares its vision to transform mobile network economics and address infinite demand from consumers and devices for mobile connectivity on a massive scale,” said Stefano Cantarelli, chief marketing officer of Mavenir.
“This is an exciting time for the mobile industry and Mavenir’s collaboration with Vilicom will advance innovative cost reduction solutions to meet this surge in demand,” Cantarelli added.
With a wide range of applications, the technology is designed to meet the business needs of “anyone that considers mobile connectivity to be an important asset on their properties or to be a fundamental building block of their organisations’ digital strategy”.
For example, this could include property developers, landlords and business professionals.
Sean Keating, CEO of Vilicom, added: “Mobile Network Operators are and have been traditional partners of Vilicom for the last 20 years. They will also benefit from this product, since we believe, it will allow them to densify the deployment of network coverage and capacity, where it is most needed, the indoors.”
