Sparkle has opened new point of presence (PoP) in Casablanca, Morocco.

Located at Orange Maroc open data centre, Sparkle’s PoP will provide corporate communication services to multinational enterprises aiming to expand their business in Morocco.

Specifically, Sparkle will deliver Italian and European multinationals, Ethernet and virtual private IP-VPN networks to connect their headquarters with their branches in Morocco and thus enable intracompany communication.

In addition, Carrier MPLS, that extends connectivity services to other operators, and Cloud Connect, which offers private and secure connection to global cloud environments, will also be available via the new PoP.

Due to Morocco’s political stability and economic growth, the country is attracting a lot of investment particularly from Italian and European multinationals that are increasingly establishing offices and industrial sites in the country.

Additionally, Morocco has strong and consolidated trade relations with several countries in West Africa, thus positioning itself as a commercial hub from Europe to the Sub Saharan African region.

This latest PoP in Casablanca completes Sparkle’s presence in North Africa, stretching from Egypt to Morocco.

In June 2019, Sparkle launched its PoP in Aqaba, Jordan, in collaboration with Naitel, a Jordan-based operator with proprietary data centres and a nationwide network.

In related news, Global Cloud Exchange (GCX) and Sparkle extended their partnership by adding new spectrum capacity over the Flag Atlantic (FA-1) subsea cable connecting Paris and London to New York.

Announced in March, GCX will provide an additional terabyte of capacity on the current transatlantic route, therefore enabling Sparkle to offer faster and more reliable City2City connect and Seabone IP Transit services.  in March,
