The news comes as Sparkle aims to meet the increasing connectivity needs of the city and of its business ecosystem.
Rome is the first city in the European Union for extension and a vibrant business district in Italy being home to many national and international companies specialised in various sectors - including Fashion, Design, Film, Oil, Pharmaceutical, Telecommunication and ICT - as well as an important center for universities and research institutes.
Located at Tecnopolo Tiburtino in the eastern part of the city, the new PoP adds to Sparkle’s three existing sites in the metropolitan area. The new location increases the reach of Sparkle’s city ring in Rome, which is fully integrated with Sparkle’s Tier-1 global IP backbone Seabone.
In addition, with the new PoP Sparkle will deliver Seabone IP Transit and City2City transport solutions to Tecnopolo Tiburtino’s more than 100 companies in the ICT, aerospace, green economy, research and technology transfer sectors.
Additionally, customers will have access to Sparkle’s full suite of IP and data services, including DDoS Protection Service – that provides multiple options to protect customer networks from DDos attacks - Virtual NAP, that allows customers to access the main internet exchange points without the need of building any proprietary infrastructure, and Ethernet Suite for secure and transparent Ethernet connectivity.
At the start of the month, Sparkle expanded its reach in Brazil with a new PoP in Salvador.
The new location adds to the ten existing points of presence the company has in the country specifically in Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro and Fortaleza.
All of which strengthens the performance of Sparkle’s global IP Transit service Seabone by lowering latency and improving traffic routing capabilities within Brazil and across the Americas.
