PCCW Global’s Console Connect has expanded its collaboration with IBM Cloud Direct Link to improve network connections to the IBM public cloud from data centres across Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Console Connect, which has been part of PCCW Global for three years, is a software-defined platform that delivers fast, low-latency and secure connectivity worldwide over PCCW Global’s network.

Michael Glynn (pictured), Console Connect’s VP of digital automated innovation, said, “We are delighted to extend our collaboration with IBM Cloud Direct Link to deliver on-demand, private connectivity to IBM Cloud via direct on-ramps across Asia, Europe and the USA.”

He added: “Extending our on-ramp footprint means more global businesses are now able to take advantage of the improved speed, security and network scalability for their critical business applications hosted in IBM public cloud.”

Customers on the platform can now instantly provision virtual connections directly into IBM’s public cloud for short durations from any of the Console Connect-enabled data centres in 40 countries.

IBM Cloud Direct Link’s global offering executive, Gabriel Montanti, said: “As enterprises pursue innovation to capture the emerging opportunities of today’s increasingly digital world, and seek improved continuity in the face of external challenges, they are looking for best in class options to leverage the public cloud.”

Services available include compute and storage infrastructure as well as IBM’s extensive catalogue spanning AI, blockchain and internet of things (IoT).

Console Connect said it has implemented direct cloud on-ramps to the IBM public cloud in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, London, Frankfurt and San Jose. All can be accessed directly from 300 plus on-net data centres in over 40 countries via the Console Connect uncontended private network.
