PCCW Global’s Console Connect has partnered with Cloudfare to enable private and dedicated connections from Console Connect to Cloudflare’s network and services.

Users can now log in to Console Connect and begin self-provisioning private and direct Layer 2 connections to Cloudflare’s global network, said PCCW Global.

These connections bypass the public internet and essentially give Console Connect users a private gateway to a range of Cloudflare network solutions, the company added.

David Tuber, product manager at Cloudflare, said that this is part of Cloudflare Network Interconnect (CNI). “CNI allows our customers to interconnect branch and HQ locations directly with Cloudflare wherever they are, bringing Cloudflare’s full suite of network functions to their physical network edge.”

He added: “Using CNI to interconnect provides security, reliability, and performance benefits versus using the public internet to connect to Cloudflare. And because of Cloudflare’s global network reach, connecting to our network is straightforward no matter where on the planet your infrastructure and employees are.”

Console Connect said that it “has enabled direct on-ramps to the Cloudflare network across cities in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America”.

In a blog post Console Connect said: “Unlike other interconnection platforms on the market, only Console Connect can provision private connectivity to Cloudflare across a Tier 1 global IP network. That’s because our automated fabric is underpinned by PCCW Global’s leading IP backbone.”

Tuber cited an unnamed customer in an unnamed location using CNI to reduce round-trip time to Warsaw from 7.5ms to 1ms. Jitter “on the link decreased from 82.9 to 0.3, which speaks to the dedicated, reliable nature of the link”, Tuber said.
