Telia Carrier, ZenFi Networks expand connectivity in New York City and New Jersey
Telia Carrier and ZenFi Networks have formed a strategic partnership to deliver enhanced backbone connectivity to wholesale and enterprise customers throughout the New York and New Jersey metro region.
“The complementary nature of ZenFi Networks’ metro NYC footprint and Telia Carrier’s #1 Global IP backbone adds up to a consistently positive experience for our shared customer base,” said Rob Pulkownik, head of channel sales at Telia Carrier.
“Telia Carrier’s expanded global reach compliments ZenFi Networks’ ability to offer enhanced solutions and services to our channel partners, our wholesale customers, and enterprise businesses within and beyond our regional footprint,” added Walter Cannon, vice president of business development at ZenFi Networks.
Globe partners towercos for accelerated cell site deployment
Globe Telecom says that it is accelerating its cell site deployment across the Philippines saying that its partnerships with independent tower companies has “advanced to active acquisition and build phases.”
Globe says it has inked a pole lease agreement with Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC), increasing its footprint by 200 cell sites in Cebu, Davao and Subic.
In addition, 300 macro sites will also be deployed in North Luzon and South Luzon while 400 more sites will be allocated within the year to cover Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
“The partnerships with tower firms will greatly complement the company’s target in expanding its capacity and coverage throughout the country,” said Rizza Maniego-Eala, chief finance officer and chief risk officer at Globe Telecom.
Extreme migrates 28 global locations cloud managed networking
Extreme Networks has deployed ExtremeCloud IQ across 28 locations in 17 countries, transforming Extreme into a fully cloud-managed enterprise.
Carried out over a 24-hour period the move included onboarding 100s of ExtremeWireless Wi-Fi 6 access points and fabric-enabled switches onto the cloud management platform.

Cellcom appoints Shai Amsalem as company CFO
Cellcom Israel has announced the appointment of Shai Amsalem as the company's new CFO, effective 13 September 2020.
In addition, the company has named Eran Shenar and Diana Elsztein-Dan as members of the company's Board of Directors, effective 14 September 2020.
Amsalem served as CFO of Golan Telecom since 2017, Shenar is the founder and co-owner of Best-Medical Center as of 2019 and lsztain –Dan has served as a director of Discount Investment Corporation since December 2019.
Shenar was nominated to the board by the company's employees, as per the February 2020 collective employment agreement.
Facebook and AT&T join PAWR wireless testbed
AT&T, CommScope, Facebook, Keysight, and NI have been named as the first contributing equipment partners supporting the Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research (PAWR) program.
Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and a consortium of 35 wireless companies, the Aerial Experimentation and Research Platform for Advanced Wireless is focused on wireless communications for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and ground mobility and is due for completion in 2021.
AT&T provided data backhaul support. CommScope delivered wireless antennas and fixed node enclosures. Additionally, Facebook Connectivity provided Terragraph nodes supporting millimetre wave communications, Keysight delivered network test equipment including a channel emulator and RF sensors and NI offered software-defined radios for experimentation and spectrum compliance monitoring.
