As SVP for Europe Homer will sit on the GTT leadership team and brings 20 years of experience to the role.
“Tom has a track record of leading organisations in the international telecoms industry to significant organic growth,” stated Ortega.
After CEO Rick Calder left the business in June, Ortega was named interim CEO in July. Currently, he and Berns co-head a group that leads the company on an interim basis.
He added: “In his last role Tom led a team that nearly doubled revenue in its region and dramatically improved customer advocacy. I’m looking forward to the positive impact his leadership will bring in accelerating GTT’s revenue growth and customer-first objectives.”
Homer previously held roles at Telstra, Global Cloud Xchange and Cable & Wireless. He joins GTT from Laser Light where he held the advisory-based role of chief customer officer, responsible for sales, product, marketing and customer experience.
Prior to this role Homer was managing director EMEA at Telstra, responsible for developing and executing strategy across the region. Homer was also executive sponsor for Telstra’s global customer advocacy program. During his tenure, the business significantly expanded its presence across EMEA.

In early September, a consortium of three bidders entered “advanced talks” to buy the former Interoute and possibly also Hibernia Networks from GTT Communications’ Apollo for more than US$2 billion.
