The fourth facility from American Tower Edge Data Centers is ready to welcome tenants in Austin Texas.

American Tower Corporation (NYSE: AMT) announced the new edge facility earlier this year, boasting an alternative location to centralised metro data centres. Now ready for customers, the 360-square-foot, 100 KW facility offers eight customer cabinets, comprising 20 quarter-cabinet lockers and three full cabinets.

“Following the launch of American Tower Edge Data Centers in Atlanta, Boulder, and Denver, we are excited to announce that our newest site in Austin, a thriving epicentre for high-tech industries, is open to help customers enable advanced applications,” said Whitney Pesot, product manager, US innovation for American Tower.

The latest addition to the portfolio followed the August launch of two identical new edge facilities in Boulder and Denver, Colorado. As with the Austin data centre, these purpose-built 360-square-foot, 100 KW facilities provide eight customer cabinets, comprising 20 quarter-cabinet lockers and three full cabinets.

The connectivity enabled, multitenant, neutral-host edge data centers maximize flexibility and are directly connected via dark fibre to a major data centre in the region.

“Our new edge data centres, launching in key markets throughout the US, are quickly meeting nationwide industry demands for high-bandwidth, low-latency applications, and 5G technologies, and most optimally support the unique digital infrastructure needs of our customers,” Pesot added.
