Barney (pictured) ran GCX and its troubled sister company Reliance Communications (RCom) until last year. GCX is now controlled by its lenders.
Sridhar Pinnapureddy, founder and CEO of CtrlS, said Barney’s “extensive global experience across the data centre and telecom sectors will be an asset to CtrlS as we roll out data centres in emerging markets globally”.
CtrlS operates seven rated-4 hyperscale data centres in India – in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Plans are also underway for another in Chennai.
Pinnapureddy said: “We look forward to Bill advising the company as we continue to build and scale our business by establishing hyperscale data centres around the world.”
Barney commented: “The company is already making a significant impact on the data centre sector globally. With India at the forefront of best-in-class data centre development for the emerging markets, CtrlS and its subsidiary Cloud4C are well positioned to embrace global growth in alignment with the rapid changes of digital transformation.”
