Everstream has agreed to acquire Uniti’s assets and customer base for an undisclosed sum, adding 5,600 route miles to its fibre network.
Both metro fibre and long-haul fibre are included in the agreement, which will see Uniti tap Everstream’s existing fibre network infrastructure throughout the Midwest and connect the major metro markets of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia to Everstream’s high-capacity networks in 10 other cities across the Midwest, as well as Chicago.
The fibre-based Ethernet and internet services will capable of speeds up to 100 Gbps and the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh markets will be supported with the opening of new, local offices.
Everstream president and CEO, Brett Lindsey (pictured), said: “Everstream’s acquisition of the Uniti network assets in Pennsylvania provides reach into new markets, from which we will continue to densify the network.
“The network spans the state, and these markets will now experience Everstream’s unrivalled commitment to customer service, and the unique way in which we deliver services.”
The transaction with Uniti is in addition to the company’s $300 million investment to build new fibre infrastructure across the Midwest, announced in January. Since Q3 2019, Everstream has opened five offices, completed two acquisitions and onboarded more than 130 employees.
