The company said the announcement strengthens Bluebird’s capabilities and fibre network footprint in Iowa and Illinois. The facility was previously owned by Geneseo Communications.
The site brings new data centre options to the company’s customers already in the region – further connecting the Midwest.

“We know Bluebird and the leadership team will leverage the splendid work accomplished by ColoHub and take its capabilities to new heights with excellent support for our customers—both current and future—in concert with Bluebird’s standards of integrity, accountability and adaptability.”
Paired with Bluebird’s fibre network and following the recent completion of a 2,500 fibre route mile multi-network integration project, the data centre bolsters the company’s fibre infrastructure and strengthens its presence in the Illinois and Iowa markets, according to the company.

“Expanding our data centre offerings, fortified now with a second facility, is part of our mission to empower businesses and offer a total communications solution.”
Adding to Bluebird’s underground data centre in Springfield, Missouri, the acquisition of ColoHub is set to enable the company to support its northeast customers with low-latency communications and redundant data centre services.
