The telecoms operator will pay €80 million for the company, which has offices in Ireland and also has a presence in New Zealand.
Eir CEO Carolan Lennon (pictured, right) said: “A great start to the new year as we welcome Evros Technology Group to the Eir Ireland team. Together we will create a fully integrated and converged portfolio of ICT solutions to enable Irish businesses to succeed in an ever more connected future.”
Evros, whose businesses include Digital Planet, itContracting, Comsys, eSource and mySoftware.ie, employs more than 450 people, designing, implementing and supporting IT infrastructure.
It will be merged into Eir’s existing telecoms and IT services business, covering mobility solutions, networking technology, public and private cloud, security, managed services and IT contracting.
Brian Larkin (pictured, left), CEO of Evros, said: “The new entity will create huge opportunities for our client base and our staff as we develop the natural synergies between the two companies to deliver what will be an unrivalled communications and IT services portfolio into the Irish marketplace.”
Lennon said: “This is another important step in our ambitious investment strategy for Ireland, building the country’s best networks and delivering a comprehensive service portfolio, which will allow us to provide our customers with all the tools they need for their digital future.”
Eir Business managing director Martin Wells said the deal would result in “Ireland’s largest Tier 1 telecoms and ICT provider”. He added: “Connectivity, security and digital transformation have become crucial considerations for Irish businesses in recent years, even more so during the pandemic. … The combined business will bring together both companies’ strengths — the flexibility, agility and customer focus of Evros together with the networking reliability, expertise and reach of Eir Business.”
