The company said its Sydney expansion is set to secure public and private cloud demand at the site and is designed as Zone 3-5-ready.
The data centre utilises cooling technologies and higher average power densities, according to DCI, with the company confirming its latest Asia Pacific data centre development.
The facility is scheduled for service readiness in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will be located in Eastern Creek in close proximity to Sydney’s key data centres and connectivity hubs, which is set to enable direct and low latency access to Sydney.
The A$400 million facility, named SYD02, will be a new purpose-built project, designed for hyperscale cloud, content and managed service providers.
DCI said it expects the facility will also set “industry-leading benchmarks” for water and energy efficiency.
“The team are delighted to have secured this approval which will be a crucial part of our three-stage strategy for this key site,” said Malcolm Roe, DCI’s Chief Executive Officer.
“We are also very excited to be leading the industry in delivering new cooling technologies to significantly enhance our power utilisation effectiveness and minimise our impact on the environment.”
DCI’s continued investment into Australia will bring benefits to the local economy via the creation of jobs throughout both the construction phase and ongoing operational management of the site.
In September 2020, the company appointed Chris Clarkson as Head of Business Development (South Australia & Northern Territory).
The company has secured development approval for a South Australian data centre, scheduled for service readiness in the fourth quarter of 2021.
