Colt said its cloud session border controller (SBC) is a cloud-based voice solution which provides direct routing as a service to rapidly enable telephone calling for Microsoft Teams.
CEO Keri Gilder (pictured) said: “This past year has truly highlighted the value of delivering voice and network services quickly and seamlessly. As the world changed dramatically, we saw first-hand the increasing need for voice services, which were critical for enterprises who needed to shift their operations to remote working almost overnight.”
Cloud SBC is available in 13 countries from today: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, said Colt.
Gilder said: “Colt’s investment in its intelligent communications offering will continue to pay dividends, as more and more enterprises transition to Microsoft Teams as their primary collaboration and communication cloud-based platform.”
At Microsoft, Giovanni Mezgec, general manager for Microsoft 365 marketing, said: “We are pleased to be collaborating with Colt as it further enhances its telephony offering for Microsoft Teams, accelerating customer adoption of direct routing for Teams.”
The service needs no hardware on-premises or in a data centre, said Colt. It uses a voice networking system from AudioCodes. Andy Elliot, VP of marketing at AudioCodes, said: “AudioCodes cloud edition SBC provides Colt with the agility and scalability they need to deliver truly unified communications and collaboration.”
