Marie-Josée Lapierre takes SVP role at eStruxture

eStruxture has named M&A specialist Marie-Josée Lapierre as its new senior vice-president, general counsel and corporate secretary.

Lapierre has more than 20 years of business law experience, and previously led legal affairs for Investissement Québec. There she headed teams responsible for loans and investments, governance and contracts. She also previously oversaw legal at Yellow Pages Limited, a digital marketing company, and started her career at BCF LLP.

eStruxture is Canada's largest domestic provider of network and cloud-neutral data centre solutions.

"We were very impressed with the depth of Marie-Josée's experience, having worn many hats throughout her legal career. This diversity of experience will be very valuable as we continue on our rapid growth trajectory and expansion throughout Canada," said president and CEO Todd Coleman.

"Her experience with M&A, operational support and process improvements also aligns with the future endeavours of the company," he continued, although the company did not immediately confirm it was looking to any new acquisitions.

In 2019, eStruxture secured an expanded $170 million credit facility with a group of Canadian banks led by Scotiabank and National Bank of Canada, with the aim of accelerating portfolio growth and acquiring new facilities and businesses across Canada. 

Two months later eStruxture confirmed it had acquired a Calgary colocation facility from telco Shaw Communications, retaining its staff and customers, while maintaining a wholesale relationship with Shaw.

Today, eStruxture has six facilities and offers colo, cloud, network and managed services.

"Since 2017, I've witnessed eStruxture's rapid growth," said Lapierre, who specialises in M&A, financing, commercial law and corporate governance.

"This growth was enabled by the company's strong knowledge of the Canadian market and its ability to cater to customers' specific needs. I look forward to helping eStruxture achieve new growth milestones and am grateful for the opportunity to join such a dynamic, talented team," she added.

Lapierre holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Université de Montréal and an MBA from McGill University. She has been named Lexpert Rising Stars Leading Lawyers Under 40 and YBAM Lawyer of the Year (in-house practice) by the Young Bar Association of Montreal.
