It is the second expansion at the facility in the last two years and the news broke as NetActuate said demand for US East Coast-based infrastructure and network services "continues to grow rapidly".
“We are seeing a growing number of customers asking to deploy to New York every day,” said Mark Mahle, CEO and Principal Technology Architect. “This latest expansion will greatly improve the availability of services from our data center located at 85 10th Avenue, one of the major hubs in New York City.”
Through the facility, NetActuate offers direct connectivity back to nearby carrier hotels 111 Eighth Avenue and 60 Hudson Street. In this facility, customers can benefit from direct access to NYIIX (New York International Internet Exchange) and more than 800 carriers, financial exchanges, application providers, media and content providers, software-as-a-service providers and enterprises.
The NYIIX is one of the world’s largest and most active carrier-neutral IP peering exchanges, ranking internationally in the top 10 among other exchanges. Redundant fiber cables connect the NYIIX to other carrier hotels in the area. As an NYIIX partner, NetActuate is able to provide direct NYIIX ports for customers, removing the need for a physical presence in the building.
In recent months NetActuate has upgraded its Tokyo data centre to improve network reliability across the Asia-Pacific region, and has added connectivity and infrastructure capacity to its London data centre.
