Ruben Van den Brink (pictured) will lead the technical team and guide them through the IX's digitalisation as AMS-IX continues to automate processes and change the way it supports the market.
Van den Brink replaces Henk Steenman who retired in December 2020 and his appointment is effective as of March.
Commenting on his appointment the new CTO said: "It is phenomenal to be part of an organisation that plays such a fundamental role in the functioning of the internet. I look forward to working with a team of proud professionals and be part of the future of the internet.”
Van den Brink started his career as an academic researcher in mathematics at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. In 2008 he left the academic world to start working for Technicolor, later Ericsson Broadcast Services. There, he held several key management positions, in the network, storage and data centre business units. Prior to joining AMS-IX, he worked for about five years at SURFnet, where he was head of network services and advisor in the emerging field of quantum technology.
Peter van Burgel, CEO of AMS-IX, said: “In response to the rapidly changing market conditions, AMS-IX is currently going through a digital transformation and our CTO plays a key role to make this a success. We are really happy to welcome Ruben to our organisation as he brings extensive knowledge and experience from both the world of interconnection and digital transformation.”
