The company this milestone on the evening of 3 February 2021, the day before its inaugural members’ meeting, NetIX 1.0.
NetIX’s traffic has increased rapidly in a very short period of time; in November 2020 the company reached a traffic peak of 650Gbps, this increased to 730Gbps at the start of January 2021, and one week later this increased by more than 100Gbps to 850Gbps.
Based on global traffic volume, the news positions NetIX at number 24 of the top 25 internet exchanges, also making NetIX the fastest growing IXP with average traffic levels doubling within 12 months.
“In 2020 we started developing NetIX’s services and expanding into new regions and our traffic simply sky-rocketed. Last night (3rd February 2021) NetIX joined the Big Boy’s Club, and hit 1Tbps of peak traffic which has pushed us into the top 25 IXPs by traffic capacity globally,” said Angel Gyurov (pictured), chief product development officer at NetIX and Neterra.
“We believe we’ll be able to deliver, meet, and exceed all customer expectations and demands, and are ready to enter the top ten IXPs in the world, and then take on the challenge to push into the top five.”
NetIX’s ecosystem is comprised of 140+ members, 30+ IXPs, and 8,000+ networks across 65 cities and any connected network can benefit by connecting to any peer or location using the same port.
In related news, October saw NetIX expand its South American footprint by adding two new locations in Brazil.
The two new sites in Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza join NetIX’s list of connected data centres and has added IX.br – the Brazilian internet exchange point as a connected IXP.
