The contracts included a £5.8 million win with Glasgow City Council that will help it transition to a smart city, and a £7 million contract extension with the City of Edinburgh Council as part of its continuing digital enablement programme.
Elsewhere, contracts were signed with venture capital firm Par Equity LLP, fish processing company Pelagia, oil and gas giant Shell, legal firm Burness Paull LLP, dental supply company Wright Cottrell, global IT and business consulting services firm CGI, Arnold Clark, and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
Chief commercial officer Charles Quinn said: “We are delighted to record such excellent business growth in the final quarter of last year. It shows that now more than ever good businesses need high performance, robust and resilient connectivity so they can emerge from COVID-19 in a strong position. It also shows that more and more customers are gaining significant benefits from the new UK-wide network that Commsworld has built.”
The Scottish network owner claimed the title of largest independent network provider back in August after it completed a £10 million, UK-wide Optical Core Network. It was built on more than 2,000km of dark fibre leased from CityFibre and Zayo.
Quinn added: “Already we are enjoying an excellent start to 2021. There are plenty of new markets for us to explore that can benefit from our safe, super-fast and secure digital technology.
“We hope in particular to support public sector organisations as they look to transform their old networks to cope with the demands from the ‘new normal’ we have seen during this current lockdown, from providing education online to accessing fast, efficient services digitally.”
