The three-man EdgeX leadership team have over 75 years of collective experience in the industry.
The company's first edge data centre is targeting verticals in financial services, digital content distribution, insurance and enterprise applications.
EdgeX is located at 4442 Newcastle Road in Oklahoma City, a facility originally built by Devon Energy in 2010. The 65,000 sq ft site houses two 10,000 sq ft data halls.
EdgeX only purchased the facility on 2 April but is already lining up new business, promoting its location right in the centre of the US as an asset for potential customers.
Parsons and Morrison co-founded Perimeter Technology Center (PTC) in 2002, which became the largest commercial data centre provider in Oklahoma, until its sale in 2011 to data centre firm TierPoint.
Morales co-founded TierPoint in Spokane, Washington in 2003 - which was sold in 2012. Morales left TierPoint in 2019.
“In the middle of a pandemic we saw an opportunity,” said Parsons. “The world of remote working and distance learning exploded, and data centres along with cloud companies and service apps were in high demand.
“This facility will be the first of many as we continue to look for opportunities to extend the edge,” said Parsons.
