The acquired site (pictured) is in El Segundo, a metro city in Los Angeles. It has been christened LAX1 and consists of 117,500 sq ft of space, with the 22 MVA building already hosting hyperscale, transportation, healthcare and government tenants.
Serverfarm said it is also strategically located close to film production studios, major aerospace and defence contractors, research and development companies and corporate campuses.
T5 Data Centers originally bought the El Segundo site in 2011 for under $30 million to build the data centre that Serverfarm has acquired. It launched the new facility in 2012 and accepted its first data centre services tenant in 2013.

The firm has four other data centres in the US across the states of Washington, Georgia and Illinois, as well as facilities in Ontario, Amsterdam and London.
Last October, Serverfarm rolled out an enhanced version of its InCommand services platform - a data centre monitoring, intelligence and reporting system. The company said the system feeds insights to its cloud-based global Network Operations Centre (NOC) to better support customers' data centre operations.
