The addition of private mobile network connectivity to BICS’ SIM for Things solution enables system integrators, original equipment manufacturers, and hardware manufacturers to develop new use cases for connected devices both inside and outside the private network on a single SIM.
Together with BICS’ global Private IPX & Cloud Connect solutions, the data generated by connected devices on the public network is securely transported to the private network data centre, independent of the public internet.
The SIM for Things solution is made up of a physical and virtual SIM card, with self-management capabilities and real-time quality of service data analytics.
The solution delivers connectivity across 2G, 3G, 4G/LTE, 5G, LTE-M and NB-IoT, with across more than 200 countries. This enables enterprises to access more than 700 mobile networks globally, seamlessly switching networks between public and private to deliver the best coverage according to availability.
Earlier this year, Brunei’s Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) appointed BICS as its main provider of managed roaming services.
Comprising of three mobile sales companies - Imagine Sdn Bhd, Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd and Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd - UNN has consolidated its roaming services to enhance its capabilities and create a seamless experience for its users.
Prior to this, BICS launched 5G data roaming services between the Austrian operator, Three Austria, and Swiss telecommunications company, Sunrise UPC, leveraging its 5G global IPX network.
BICS said the development is a "major advancement" in the roll-out of global 5G roaming within Europe, adding that download speeds will be "multiples times faster" than those of previous 4G roaming.
