The company submitted its plans for the proposed 307,000 sq ft facility last month, which would be located at the IDA Business & Technology Park in Drogheda, County Meath.
Amazon already has a data centre under construction at the same site, after getting planning permission for it at the beginning of last year. That facility is due to be operational by 2023.
The new project is set to be just to the north of the one being built. The plans were submitted by Tunis Properties on behalf of Amazon and it is expecting to get a decision on the build on 6 June.
A proposed power capacity for the new build has so far not been outlined. An Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) has been submitted with the plans.
Last week, cloud services unit Amazon Web Services (AWS) said it grew its business 32% in the first quarter ended 31 March. Net sales were $13.5 billion, and quarterly operating income jumped over $1 billion from $3 billion to $4.1 billion.
Currently, AWS has 80 Availability Zones across 25 geographic regions. Last month, AWS rival Microsoft said it was planning to build between 50 and 100 new data centres every year to support its Azure cloud services.
