Fastweb’s national fibre optic network infrastructure spans 50,500km with over 4,000,000km of fibre reaching 22 million customers, 8 million of which are through a proprietary network with connection speeds of up to 1Gbps – this includes a subscriber base of 2.7 million wireline customers and 1.9 million mobile customers.
This will be expanded with 5G Fixed Wireless Access technology, bringing the number of households and businesses reached to 16 million by 2025.
“Fastweb is an innovative operator that has brought new thinking and approaches to the market,” said Benedetto Spaziani, regional vice president at Netcracker.
“Our ongoing partnership allows us to help expand Fastweb’s service offerings as it rolls out 5G in the near future. We appreciate the trust Fastweb continues to place in Netcracker and look forward to a long-lasting alliance.”
Netcracker Digital BSS enables the transformation of operator environments into 5G-ready, cloud-native digital ecosystems that support new lines of business, cloud applications and virtualised services.
Together with Netcracker Support & Maintenance professional services, operators benefit from optimised business performance without having to run and maintain complex systems.
In related news, April saw Fastweb and investment company KKR both took their stakes in FiberCop, the next stage in the long-running project to build a national Italian fibre company.
KKR Infrastructure’s acquisition of 37.5% of FiberCop from TIM has now been finalised, for an equivalent value of €1.8 billion.
