The facility now totals 40,000 sq ft and 4.5MW of UPS power.
The city’s Pittsburgh Innovation District includes the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University (home of the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center).
It’s estimated that local enterprises have invested more than $2 billion into research and development in Pittsburgh (pictured). And this investment is driving the need for colocation, connectivity and cloud services, “making Pittsburgh a prime location for enterprise-class data centres”, said DataBank.
The expanded carrier-neutral facility offers connectivity with a range of on-site carriers and a high-speed connection to the firm's PIT1 - the regional carrier hotel - which provides even more options for users.
DataBank’s edge infrastructure portfolio provides colocation, cloud and network services across its 60-plus data centres.
This March, the company raised more than $750 million in secure revenue notes to fund its wider expansion. It has recently announced data centre expansions in Salt Lake City and Indianapolis.
