Following investments in Uganda, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Raxio Mozambique will offer up to 1.5MW of IT capacity from the Beluluane Industrial Park - around 20km from downtown Maputo (pictured), the capital. It is the country’s first Tier III data centre.
It is due to be commissioned during 2022. The company is also expected to make new investments in both the Ivory Coast and Tanzania later this year.
Raxio plans that all power used by the latest facility will come from renewable sources, with a combination of hydro-generated grid power and a local solar supply.
Customers will be able to cross connect with local and international carriers and other customers in specially designed meet-me rooms. Raxio has plans to build additional facilities in the country to support digital growth, it says.
Robert Mullins, CEO of Raxio Group, said: “Over the past year, the number of internet users in the country increased by 25% and we expect this to keep growing over the coming years, across all industries.
“To support this growth, we are seeing new investment from carriers and subsea cables.”
