The two firms have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) covering the marketing and management of data centre construction projects.
With political clampdowns intensifying and data laws tightening in Hong Kong, the pair are banking on foreign companies looking at South Korea as a safer hub for their data, notwithstanding the ever simmering hostilities with neighbour North Korea.
With the deal, HanmiGlobal will provide project management services, while HPE will provide the technology and consulting services required to get data centres built.
They are banking on past data centre project successes in the country. HanmiGlobal was the project manager for the data centres put up by Naver and LG Electronics in southern Seoul. And HPE in the past has provided technology support to Korean telecom providers and financial services firms when they have built their data centres.
Lee Sang-ho, president of HanmiGlobal, said: “We are happy to partner with HPE, the leading provider of cloud technology infrastructures.
“The two companies will help client companies to successfully make profits through their data centres.”
