The extra capacity will be used to better serve the needs of cloud providers, content providers and enterprise customers with an additional 6,500 sq ft of white space.
The facility (pictured) benefits from a carrier neutral ecosystem of over 40 carriers and ISPs and supports access to major cloud service providers.
The Tier III facility is in the process of being expanded by a further 13MW of capacity, which is expected to come on stream in 2022, said Rack Centre.
Ayotunde Coker, managing director of Rack Centre, said: “The Lagos campus is a digital infrastructure hub for West Africa and West Central Africa, and halves the latency of data transfer from South Africa to Europe and the US.”
In March 2020, Rack Centre saw a controlling stake in the company going to Actis, the UK private equity firm, and Convergence Partners, the Africa technology private equity company. The existing investor Jagal remains a “significant investor”, says the firm.
The Lagos campus, said Rack Centre, benefits from direct connections to all five undersea cables serving the South Atlantic Coast of Africa and every country on the Atlantic coast of Africa.
