At the end of May 2021, q.beyond had announced its intention to review the sale of its colocation business, among other strategic options.
In a first step, DATEV has bought the 10,765 sq ft facility it uses in Nuremberg for an undisclosed sum.
The sale will have a positive one-off impact on q.beyond’s EBITDA and free cash flow in a “single-digit million-euro range”, said q.beyond.
In autumn 2021, q.beyond said it will decide on the future of IP Exchange GmbH, the wholly-owned subsidiary through which most of q.beyond’s colocation business goes through.
The firm is considering both partnerships and a full sale.
The sale of the Nuremberg data centre will help finance further acquisitions outside the colocation sector, said q.beyond.
q.beyond employs 1,000 people and specialises in cloud, SAP and IoT services. It owns two other data centres in Nuremberg and Munich which are integral to the IP Exchange unit.
