It means the network is now accessible across a total of 70 communities in the province, in both rural and metropolitan areas.
The development was confirmed a week after Canada published the results of its 3500 MHz band spectrum auction, which saw Rogers make the largest investment of the top three players.
“Our networks have provided essential connectivity to the lives of Ontarians this past year, from staying in touch with loved ones, accessing vital services, to helping local businesses participate in the digital economy,” said Jorge Fernandes, CTO, Rogers Communications.
Across Canada, Rogers has launched services in more than 1,000 Canadian communities and is working on expedited plans to expand and enhance connectivity to an additional 750 communities by the end of 2021.
“We will continue to invest in our networks across the province while partnering with innovative players to advance next-generation technology, and working with government to support reliable connectivity for all Ontarians, no matter what part of the province they live in,” Fernandes added.
In Canada's 5G auction Rogers invested C$3.3 billion in 5G spectrum, covering 99.4% of the Canadian population and making Rogers the largest single investor in 5G spectrum in the country across rural, suburban and urban markets.
BCE Inc spent $2.1 billion in the auction and Telus Corp $1.95 billion.
