It will enable US federal customers and industry partners to build proofs-of-concept and test mission-critical applications via on-demand infrastructure.
Situated in a Cyxtera data centre in Northern Virginia, the lab supports hybrid multicloud services over a single platform. It has been rolled out in collaboration with Intel and other technology providers, and will help government agencies to automate their IT environments.
The lab runs on the Nutanix Cloud Platform, which the company says helps speed up deployment and save on costs, while supporting extension from the private cloud to the AWS GovCloud. It is also powered by Cyxtera’s digital exchange, which includes processes, tools and security controls tailored for federal government workloads.
It will support use cases including private cloud, hybrid multicloud, end-user computing, databases, big data analytics, data protection and disaster recovery, artificial intelligence, and remote and branch office and edge functions.
“The Federal Innovation Lab offers a dedicated space for agencies to safely ‘test-drive’ solutions to understand how different workloads perform in a cloud-like environment, without rising costs or the loss of control,” said Leo Taddeo (pictured), president of the Federal Group at Cyxtera. “Until now, federal agencies have been constrained in their ability to test the latest technologies given stringent adherence to security and regulation guidelines.”
Chip George, VP for public sector at Nutanix, said the lab will help US government customers to “meet mission and operations objectives more efficiently”.
“The Nutanix Federal Innovation Lab allows our partners to come together immediately in a large, persistent Nutanix environment to quickly create IT results for federal customers exploring our capabilities,” he added.
